Been there, done that.

Get out your volt ohm meter. Remove the plastic cover on your steering column. Remove the wire connector from your ignition switch. Check the X circuit coming out of your switch. It is probably going bad. New ignition switch is $20 from the dealer (Bus Depot and others have it for less.)

Just replaced mine on my DoubleCab with exactly the symptoms you described.
