I also agree with getting a Fluke. I've had my digital model going on 14 years, and it's never let me down even though I treat it like it's in the starring role of a Timex commercial. It's been run over by Vanagons, Splitties and Bays. Too much A/C passed through the Ohm connection. Apartment fire. Left outside during a hurricane.

Dinged up, dirty and scratched. Best tool I own, bar none.

I've had several other "cheap" meters, and the first mistake I make with it, it's toast. I've found it is impossible to get the smoke back in the box. The smoke is what makes it work, and once it's escaped you might as well throw it away.

I bought a Fluke from a Pawn shop about 10 years ago. Still works perfectly. Best $50 I ever spent.

cheers, Steve
