Subject: vent widow seal revisted (insert swear word hear)

<html><div style='background-color:'><DIV>Well my brother and tried and failed to get the vent window seal in my 88 vanagon. So I took to our local VW guy and $75 later I was no further along. Basically I paid him to do what my brother and I had already tried (but I do know he did spent some serious time with it, he was just going at in the wrong way). The problem was that he had never done one of these before. I'm leaving on a road trip to frigid temperatures tomorrow so I would kinda like to get this fixed before i leave. </DIV>

<DIV>Do you have to remove all the front glass to get the vent seal in?</DIV>
<DIV>Are there rivets that have to be removed?</DIV>
<DIV>Can you squeeze it around the the metal frame or does that frame need to be taken out?</DIV>
<DIV>Does anybody know of anybody in San Diego county who can do this? </DIV>

<DIV>ps I have already taken out the old seal (D'oh D'oh D'oh) so all the smart things I should have done to stop the whistling (ie silcone, tightening the torques acrew, etc.) can nol longer be done. I stress to everyone on the list. Do not temove the vent seal in a late model vanagon unless it is totally neccessary. </DIV>
