Subject: westy fridge combustion chamber sealing
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

I been troubleshooting problems with running the fridge on propane. It was hard to light, would go out on its own even when parked, and produced a smell inside the camper that was a bit like propane exhaust. So I've got the fridge out, and found a few leaks in the combustion loop. I sealed off the inlet and blew into the exhaust side. Air was going somewhere. Not a lot but a little. soapy water found the leaks in the area of the combustion chamber itself. Where the inlet and exhaust tubes attach to the top plate of the CC, and where the sparker goes in the side. Tightening the screws helped some. So, how critical is it to have this perfectly sealed? And If I were to seal it better, what should I use? Some 600* F silicone, or need something better?

Thanks, Edward
