Miguel wrote: I would like to know if those who have stove and sink in their Vanagons really use them and feel the need of having one. ----------------------- This should raise some serious debate. I've had both versions of the Westy camper, with frig, stove, etc., and without. There are times when one or the other is preferable. In the end, my wife & I like the "without utilities" version better overall. Our very first Westy was a GL with the whole set of stuff, and we loved it, and had it for about 6 or 7 years. That was actually when the kids were small, and the seating room was needed. Now our "best" Westy is a non-GL, without the "utilities", and it's what we like. I'm in the process of restoring an '82 Westy, and it will have the full width rear folding seat, no cabinets, the side table from a Carat, and a couple of removable jump seats. It weighs just 3100 lbs this way, and accellerates surprisingly well, having shed quite a lot of weight. Another topic: How fast do those of you in Europe, especially in Germany, drive on the Autobahn or similar roads? We visited again in March of this year, and I was impressed with the speeds on the road. I wondered at what speed a T3 Vanagon would safely cruise. Chuck Hill |
