Hi Chris,
This is a "Zen and the Art of Vanagon Patience" r&r, but it can be done
pretty easily. Using the standard depth 24mm socket (1/2" drive), then a
1/2" to 3/8" drive reducer as an extension, then a 3/8" drive ratchet. You
will need to remove the belts in the way, and push the exhaust heat shield
back just a little. Break it loose with the ratchet, then use your fingers
on the socket to unscrew. Mine had the wire zip-tied to the sender, to keep
it out of the belts. Leave the zip-tie on the wire, then you can slide it
back onto the new sender without having to use a new one in those tight
quarters.
tx,
bmc :)
