Hi and welcome to the list!

You will hear all kinds of suggestions... but one of the most important is that you replace your fuel lines.

Vanagons are prone to engine fires, and usually the cause is 15-20 year old rubber fuel lines become damaged, and spray gasoline all over the hot engine... there are many accounts of this happening in the archives... and it is not pretty when it does happen.

Go through the archives also at www.vanagon.com when you get a chance as most of the "newbie" questions and answers are there already documented... and of course searching the archives will provide the answer to the question you have just asked too (as about 500 folks have asked the exact same question you have as their first posting to the list).

Enjoy and do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance. We are practically neighbors (compared to all those North American list members).

I have an 87 so I do not have much specific info about your particular bus... but you will get all the info you need, (and more) here on the list.

Enjoy!

IMPORTANT!!! In order to reply to me, you must have the word "FISH" somewhere in the subject line of the email. Otherwise it goes directly in the trash.
