Or, re: full/half camper, lights, etc. Or, "Keep the Lights Down Low". I just returned from another week of stealth camping in and around the beaches and parks of San Diego. I have a full camper '90 Westy that just turned over 150K miles. Since I am not always on level ground (physically, geographically or mentally), I don't use the fridge, instead use a large, old Coleman cooler that has a separate ice tub that holds 20LB of ice. Yes, it takes up a lot of room, but so does my 75LB black Lab, who has learned to curl up in one of two spots, and growl, but not bark, at things that go bump in the night. I never pop the top, but the extra headroom, even when it's down, helps, because I eat breakfast, lunch and sometimes dinner, fully inside. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors and curtains? Only the Shadow knows! Oh yes, that's the dog's name.

This time I found a new use for an Everready LED light which cost less than $9.00. It has two LED's, but can be used on only one so the batteries last 200 hours. Lay it in the tray above the sink/stove, and it casts a cool, blue, indirect lighting off of the ceiling. Enough to eat by and avoid stepping on the dog, but invisible from outside.

For meals out, I found a restaurant in La Jolla where I can get a huge plate of lamb stew, rice, French bread, butter and coffee for less than $9.00. Salmon stuffed with spinach and cheese, about $1 more. No menu, point and choose, European style.

Let the bombing, er....uh, celebrating begin. And keep on trucking in, a, well, next year. Jerry
