but could the change in oil from 20w50 to 10w30 account for this drop in
pressure and higher temperatures?

YES
Most people that run 10/30 in the summer months have flickering oil light
at 800/900 rpms. That is sort of the key to tell you to run 20/50 in
Summer months.
