Volks, Recently I ordered and received a Set of "Black Tail Lights" for the Vanagon from Hansen Motrosport in Germany.. Here's my Vendor/Product Report: Jens Hansen Hansen Motorsport Am Kachelstein 25 53639 Königswinter Tel.: 0 22 44 / 87 09 64 Fax.: 0 22 44 / 87 09 65 web: <http://www.Hansen-Motorsport.de> www.Hansen-Motorsport.de email: info@Hansen-Motorsport.de Product: Black Vanagon Tail Lights Cost with shipping: 200 Euro Ship Date 11/29 Receive Date 12/22 Important Note:

The lenses are designed for use with Hella-Backplanes. If you have ULO-Taillights, you will have to switch to Hella Backplanes (you can get these at your local VW dealer for about 20$ each). My 90 Westy Syncro had the Hella-Backplanes, so I was all set. Just bolt em up and good to go.

RATING: ... On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best):

Workmanship: 10

Customer Service: 10

Quality of Materials: 10

Received on Time: 9

COMMENTS:

What Worked,

Jens was very easy to deal with via email.

Payment was made thru PayPal in Euro currency. Five minutes and the money was in Jens hands.

Next day the product shipped. Total shipping time was 24 days

Since I my van had the Hella-Backplanes I just bolted them up. The came with the yellow bulbs which was also a nice touch.

Quality of the product appears very good ... well made.

Note .... Made in Taiwan.

What Didn't Work,

Waiting ... OK ... I need to be more patient. I'm working on it.

What I'd Do Different,

Nothing

IN SUMMARY .....

I would recommend this product and this company.

To install Black Taillights is a personal esthetic decision. You either like them or you don't.

In the photo section below ..... I mounted one new taillight on the Right Side and kept the OE Taillight on the Left Side.

Then took pictures of the original OE Left Side taillight and the New Black Right Side taillight. This way you can compare them side by side.

Also took shots to show all bulbs lit at various times. (Flashers, Brake, Backup etc)

Photographs ... follow link below and click on Thumbnail to enter each Album. Then click on ithe ndividual thumnail to view full size picture.
