I avoided the full camper for the same space /weight reasons- my daily driving is non camping driving. Have found a plastic 3 drawer storage cabinet (zellere/Walmart etc)and a cooler fits all the camping equipment nicely. Pick em up and dump em on the picnic table or on the ground , and presto instant kitchen. Clean up, put everything away, and they're in the van in about 45 secs. Get home, take 'em from the van to the house, and the vans ready for anything large... Seldom need to cook inside van . But can do with coleman if pushed. Bill M 82 GL jetta powered

Never owned a GL camper, but had a couple bay window Westies and have my Carat (no pop, but adding the side cabinets) -- I won't buy another full camper unless that's all I plan to use it for. The extra space and less weight (read: less $$) appeal to me. What I'm dreaming of making, however, is a removeable sink/stove cabinet that will drop in place of one of the captains chairs. Nice, simple and removable!

john (who'd just love to trade his Carat for a MultiVan/Weekender, if the jumpseats could stay)
