I think the camping setup in the full westies is invaluable. It just takes some finesse to learn how to use it all to its fullest potential. When we go on trips, we usually cook 3 meals a day in the westy on the little stove. It works very well. The frig. is big enough for a few days of fresh dairy/ salad/ eggs, etc. It can be cramped, but after awhile you get used to it. It's actually more spacious and comfortable than many sailboats. It was asked, How fast can you drive a T3 vanagon on the autobahn? As fast as it can go. All volkswagens are supposed to be "vollgasfest". That means they are supposed to be able to be driven at full throttle without self-destructing (when they were new). That's how they drive cars in Germany, as fast as they can go. But then distances are not as far as here in the U.S., and cars generally don't last as long. Usually you're forced to slow down frequently, and move into the slow lane, to let someone much faster pass. Also in Germany, often you're stuck in the slow lane behind trucks going 60 mph, which is what the diesel vanagons were built for. Harald '90 westy
