In all the years of driving my Westy, I've never failed to find it in the
parking lot.
My take on all the extras is 'if it doesn't give it better fuel economy,
run up hills faster or make it more dependable and safer then It is
something that I can do without'.
In every Westy or Vanagon I've ever seen, each has its individual
qualities even in strictly stock configuration.
I belong to a small newly formed VW Club in Dallas area. It consist of
about 40 young fellows with a wide variety of VWs.
Only about three of them have vans of any type but the vans that are
there are all very nice.
All of the 35 + VW aircooled cars seem to be in constant transition with
addition of Chrome, Wheels, Tires, Paint Jobs, Stereo Equipment.
The latest trasition I've seen is an Air Lift system that can raise and
lower the VW bug that its mounted on.
It is about a $450.00 kit that works in conjunction with the torsion bar
suspension. The system will drop the Bug to spark delivery level or up to
approximate stock vehicle heigth.
Larger systems like this are used by Low Riders to make their cars jump
off the ground.
Have we got any jumping Westies out there ? We sure need some.
