Just cut the tubing to length, slip it over the opposing round rod and center it. Crimp the tube slightly with a pair of pliers. I've never noticed mine moving around. I squeezed mine together a little before I slipped it on. I agree those VW symbols are cool looking, I'd consider them myself if I hadn't found my solution years ago.
