I finally got around to installing a 1.6TD pump and injectors on my 1.9TD that powers my VW camper, and was astounded with the results so far! There is hardly any smoke compared to the former setup, boost comes in lower and WAY stronger (now pulls 18~19 psi easily at 3000 rpm!), torque feels much stronger in the sub-3000 rpm range, and I suspect the fuel mileage will get better too. I had the injector nozzles replaced and the breaking pressures set to 165 bar, timed the pump at 1.05 mm, and messed with the adjustments on the pump per Gary's instructions from a few months ago. I'm very impressed! So, to those of you running a 1.9TD with the stock ECO pump, if you want more power this seems to be the way to find more. Makes me wonder now how much more power could be found via the VNT20 turbo I have on my desk. Hmmm. Karl Mullendore Westy Ventures 1987 Syncro Westy 1.9TD |
