I'm thinking about shotgunning a part or two to find out what is causing it. Does this sound like an idle stabilizer problem? I can swap with my '87 if it's deemed to be a likely cause. > > Thanks for help, > > Tom Salicos > '87 Westy Syncro

If both vans are 87's, you can swap lots of things easily: idle stabilizer control, AFM, ECU, etc. This type of problem could be caused by the ECU getting the wrong info from the temp sensors. I'd check the resistance of sensors I and II when cold and compare with the specs from Bentley.
