I use a liberal coating of Krown rustproofing oil on the rubber and metal edge where the rubber sits. Helps prevent rusting beneath the seal and allows easy installation of the window. I've never had a problem with window coming loose, falling out and I do not use the locking strip in the groove. You will find that the side sliding windows are so tight that it's a major PITA to remove & reinstall them. I usually end up using new rubbers on these as most times the originals have been compromised in some fashion in the removal process or reinstall process.
