There are several known solutions for killing bacteria. Chlorine Bleach, Vinegar, Alkaline Solution (automatic dish washing power/liquid) and Baking Soda. If you don't have bacteria or some type of residue in your system I'd thing that a quick wash down of the tank (open the lid, put your arm and scrub the interior of the tank) run your pump and get the lines flushed. Rinse the detergent out and then just use a light bleach or vinegar solution to finish sanitizing the system. Drain this out and let it dry after the solution is out. I keep my system drained when I'm not actually traveling with water.
