That is a cheap alarm then, all the new ones have a "sensing" technology now, that samples the vibration and then ups the resistance a tiny amount to see if it will trigger again. It emits a warning beep if it's threshold is crossed, then it waits again. After the third time it does indeed go off, but even this feature is adjustable. He may have it set too lightly, which is a common error in home installations. Everyone wants them to go off when someone taps the glass. Not a good idea if your neighbors are less than understanding. I still say a properly set up alarm like mine with a 30 second immobilizer is the way to go. But hey, I love playing with stuff too, and once bought a 555 timer chip to build an alarm with a simple mercury rocker switch for my motorcycle. If anyone took the bike off the centre stand, it went off unless you disarmed it first. :-) Courtney ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Brodbeck" <gull@cyberspace.org> To: "Courtney Hook" <chook@nisa.net> Cc: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Wednesday, January 01, 2003 1:39 PM Subject: Re: [VANAGON] security ideas
