I've always carefully removed the injectors as a pair and the carefully sliced the old fuel hose off the injector barb, by getting the carpet knife point as far into the metal sleeve as possible. This saves the sleeve, and IF you use the correct fuel hose there is no clamp required, works just like VW intended. When the new 7mm hose is pushed securely into the sleeve, the barbs on the injector will hold all the pressures the system will ever produce. Fast and secure, I've never had a failure doing it the right way.

My preference is to cut off these metal "clamps" (round metal jeeber) with a large pair of side-cutters and use a new fuel line clamp here as well. Faster, more secure, safer. I'd recommend Ken's kit ( http://www.vanagain.com/ ). Top quality with an international flair - 20 Swedish clamps and 10' of German hose.
