Hi Karl,
It will be dimmer or brighter based on how hot the pilot is burning.  On
12V, it is just on.  When I would start my fridge on a cold day, I'd get a
bright light, then it would start to dim, which was my cue to pump the air
pump a bit to keep it from going out.  It was always dimmer on propane than
on 12V.
