I understand it's a noisy machine by nature...what gets me is that at 50 mph, or at 65 mph, it's fairly nice -- certainly quieter than my old '75 Westy was. But in that one speed range, right around 55 (indicated -- haven't checked the speedo against my GPS yet), it's extremely loud. I just can't imagine VW would have sold it this way. Especially since that's right around the van's best cruising speed. The amount of noise seems, to my ear, to double when I accellerate from 50 to 55.

Could you give me an idea what this is supposed to look like? I know I'm missing the bellows, but I'm not sure I have the rest of the assembly, either...what do the bellows connect to? Bentley doesn't have a picture of this. If I can figure out what I'm missing, I can try to get it at a junkyard.
