Good morning and happy new year to everyone....

You may recall a thread a few months back about VW solar panels. Essentially, VW is sending every car to the US with a small solar panel attached to the windshield (plugged into the cigarette lighter socket) to keep the battery topped off on arrival in Houston. Apparently this is cheaper than paying Joe to run around jumping all the cars.

When the cars arrive at the dealer, the solar panel goes in the trash, unless the buyer specifically requests it. Tsk, tsk, such wastefulness.

I have rounded up 24 of these panels, so instead of a group purchase, how about a group giveaway?

The panels are rated at 18.8 volts, 170 mA, 3.2 watts, so very low output--just enough to keep a battery topped off.

Rather than calculating postage for all the different destinations, I am asking for US$10 to cover postage and bubble wrap. Outside the US, we can work it out on actual costs.

I will not be insuring the panels, and will not be refunding money if they get broken in transit, so you will bear $10 of risk. If a panel does get broken, however, I'll do my best to round up another one and send it along.

I haven't used PayPal to receive funds before, but that will probably be a possibility (ben@kbmc.net). Cash/check/etc. works too. Hey, I trust you all, because we're all one big, happy, SUV-bashing family, right? (Don't tell anyone I drive a 96 4Runner....).

Anyway, best of the new year to you, and take good care. tx, bmc :) Ben McCafferty ben@volkscafe.com
