Allow me to share the fix I did on my '85 Vanagon.  The year may not be a
coincidence.  Based on my experience all '85 model vans sit a bit higher
than the rest save a Syncro (others may want to confirm/deny).  The
alternative would be a trip to a junk yard for different front springs.
