If past discussions are any guide, you'll get a lot of different opinions, with a fair amount of useful information with them. Ultimately it probably depends on your level of mechanical skill and what you want from the van. Any conversion will require a fair amount of tinkering to get right, and you may have trouble getting a mechanic to work on it. If you do some archive searches, you'll notice that people who do conversions often have a lot of minor annoyances to fix, like exhaust systems that break up and new noise problems. On the other hand, you have the possibility of getting more power and better reliability.
