I stumbled on that solution accidently. My '84 had been plagued with the no hot start problem for, literally, years. I stripped a bolt on the thermostat housing and ended up replacing it with a boneyard part. It had the sensor in it. After replacing the housing (& sensor), I never had the problem again.

Glad it worked out.
