Volks,

Recently sold a 85 Westy ..... posted a bunch of photos for the add.

Some showed a video set up I had and resulted in inquiries for details.

If you looking for a low cost video monitor in your Van, here's some suggestions.

Example One:

Viewsonic VB50HRTV TV Tuner Module W/Remote ... $99.00

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?sku =V18-4010

This device allows you to use any computer monitor (LCD or otherwise) as a TV (Video) monitor.

This bay also even has a built in TV Tuner and displays up to a 1028 x 764 resolution.

The best part .... has a 110V to 12V power converter. Eliminate the converter and wire it directly to 12 volt.

With this set up you can hook up any VCR, DVD Player, Antennae or Sat Dish.

Now pick up a LCD computer monitor.

Here's just one example (not the one I used).

Mag LT565 15" 1024X768 .297mm Multimedia TFT LCD ... $199.00

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?sku =M925-1506

TIPS >>>>>

1. LOOK FOR ONE THAT WORKS ON 12 VOLTS. That way you won't need a separate 110V to 12V power converter. Not sure if this monitor uses 12 volt or not.

2. Make sure you get one with built in speakers.

Bada Bing >>>> Total Cost = $298.00

Good to go.

Example Two .... This would be my recommended way to go.

Be patient and shop for a good deal on a 15"LCD TV Monitor/.

Here's one exampleon eBay that sold for $322.00

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2082240826

Average Cost = $300-$500

With this set up you only have one piece of hardware ..... thus lower total power consumption.

Pick up your "Out takes of Gilligan's Island" DVD and you are ready to party.

Hitting the Trail Soon ... REALLY!
