Sounds like your throttle idle switch is working normally. On my 85, the leads from the switch terminate on a connector socket attached to the bracket holding the transverse metal coolant pipe that runs over the top of the engine.

The switch is at the bottom of the throttle assembly. If you look directly down on top of the block right just to the rear of the throttle, you'll see two small hex screws. One adjusts the position of the switch; the other secures the switch assembly once it is adjusted.

Whether you have a combined switch (idle/full open) is beyond my limited knowledge.

My guess is that it leads to the elusive combined switch. The resistance was about 5-ohms when the throttle was in the idle position, and had infinite resistance when the throttle was open. > > Am I right to assume this is the TPS connector?. Do these resistance readings suggest a TPS replacement is required? > > Many Thanks.
