Sorry for taking up bandwidth here but I am hoping that some of our Vanagon List members who are electronic whizescan help me with this.

I need to build a programmable controller that can regulate temperature up to about 1250C or around 2250F-2500F. It needs to be triggered by a signal from a K-coupling, and control a 75Amp 240V AC circuit. Needs both ramp/hold and ramp rate configuration. I would like to build this thing with basic components - ie, IC.s, transistors, resistors, relays, LED or liquid crystal readouts, all or most mounted on a perf board and/or in a cabinet.

I do pottery and other clay artwork and want to control some electric kilns used for the clay and also for silver and gold work. The factory controllers are near $1000 each and I think that can be gotten around handily. I think Darrel Boehler's Digifant Digi-tool is a slick example of what can be done with a little ingenuity and know-how. I unfortuanately am short in both departments and thus I solicit the indulgence of The Membership for help.

Any input would be appreciated. Please respond off list via p-mail to avoid clutter with non-vanagon content.

TIA.
