My'91 Westy gauge would stay on "full" for 60-70 miles before creeping down. My current '87 Syncro Westy begins moving as soon as I pull out of the gas station. I agree that at about the half-way point there is still much more than a half tank left but I just don't use the gauge for that purpose anymore. I've also found where the "critical" point is on this gauge when it gets low, and I have about a gallon more now than on my "91 at the same gauge point. Just my expereince.
