My '86 Wolfsberg Westy has an automatic transmission. The shifter moves back and forth in a box-like affair, and the space through which it moves is covered by a flexible, many-slatted piece of brown plastic. This piece keeps crap out of the box, and I presume is also supposed to look better than the open hole into the box. When new, these flexible pieces probably had a dozen or so slats on either side of the shift lever so that the hole is covered regardless of the position of the shift lever. Mine now has about two slats on either side of the lever. My local VW dealer yesterday tells me these are special order items @ $11.95, but only come in black. My interior, like every other '86 Wolfsberg edition I've ever seen, is brown. Does anyone have a spare brown one of these things they'd like to sell? Thanks, Tom LaLanne |
