When offering items for sale, sometimes price is not listed, maybe the
seller has not determined the price yet, but has determined that he/she
wants to sell it, or get rid of it, ie make an offer.
I have posted on an other site Triumph parts, with no price. It is
basically an entire car parting out. I would make the price based on
several factors, such as what is the offer, and (often very important)is the
person just buying one little part, taking my time to hunt for the part, and
be around to show the part. Not worth my time for five dollars, however if
the person is buying a lot of stuff, I may throw in some needed parts for
free, that otherwise I would not sell for less than five bucks or more
individually.
I may decide that the buyer is a really nice person, and I want to assist
in helping them with their project car, hence they get a maybe a better
deal.
I may be sick, and maybe I ran over the cat that day, my boss chewed me
out, I ran out of gas, and the buyer calls at 11 pm , no that buyer probably
won't be able to negotiate a low price for one little wiggit that he wants
shipped next morning, Then again, if that 11 pm phone call is to buy the
whole lot of stuff, buyer will pick up and load at my choice of time and day
(with cash in hand), well by golly, lets make a deal.
That said, lets not demand prices being posted, prices can be asked if you
are interested, and if you say please real nice like, the price might be
less than you expected. Also note, that If I want to get rid of something,
the longer it takes to sell, generally the lower I will go on the price, It
is all in flux.
When dealing with private sellers that do not run a business, price
posting is optional, certainly not a sign of no balls.

Since it's Friday... I'll add my two cents worth in agreement...
I liken it to teaser ads.
Or fishing... seeing if a sucker will bite.
If I had a Vanagon-oriented business I would gladly pay to have such a
concentrated list of potential buyers... since List posts are gratis, I
feel we should insist that any FS posts' text include at least a price AND a
location (for vehicles and larger items).
