I love the incredible scenery of the four corners region. I was there again last August and found RVs mostly at 'Hilton style campgrounds' with all the amenities like Laundromat, convenience store, pool, etc. I hardly found them at National Forest campgrounds. But that varies. You may even find paved sites built for heavy Greyhound type RVs at some National/State Forest campgrounds, but most are gravel. Take the fee as a guideline; the cheaper, the more primitive, the less RVs. I've also seen campgrounds explicitly saying 'passenger car only', or limited to 20' vehicles or something like that. You should be able to find that information online. If you want to be all alone, head for a National Forest. Most allow you to wilderness camp as long as you meet certain guidelines like minimum distance from paved road etc. Check with a ranger station before you go. In Navaho country I think you're restricted to campgrounds. Private campgrounds tend to go towards 'the bigger the better', with all bells and whistles including noise and street lights all night. I've always tried to avoid those places. When I go camping I want to be as far from the mall as possible. Have a great trip!
