I've had pretty good luck extending the extension spout and grasping the end of the filler neck(oil, that is) and using the thumb of the grasping hand to block the lower part of the filler hole, I can pour the synthetic oil in slowly over my thumb and still prevent spilling. The only funnel I carry is a black Techron fuel injector cleaner bottle with the bottom cut off so when I do run the van out of gas, I can add some gas without polluting the ground around me. $6 bottle of that stuff is an expensive funnel, but I rationalize that it did my injectors some good.
