Really?  My 1982 diesel has it.  I felt really dumb when I discovered it,
I'd been struggling to get oil in the filler and making a big mess.  It's
a bit hard to spot, but if you look closely at the top of the filler tube
you'll see there's a double lip on it.  Pull up (might want to use a rag
so your fingers don't get oily) and it'll telescope out far enough to
extend out of the license plate flap, making this the easiest vehicle to
add oil to without spilling that I've ever driven. Thanks, VW! The thing
that makes it hard to see is that the lip in the inner tube is the same
diameter as the outer tube, so it just looks like an extra bit of molded
plastic at first.
