If we force the seller to diclose his price, then we might as well force him
to tell his purchase price in keeping with this so-called spirit of honesty.
Does that make sense?
Go figure - this is free enterpise. The seller has a right to discuss prices
in private.
I can offer a new part for sale- if I have to give my price- the big vendors
can offer it at a lower price and still make a profit because they sell
larger volume.
Requiring a starving student as the electricity is being shut off, to give
his price out, gives an advantage to others who may live next door to the
interested buyer and sell it for less.
Or place an ad next to yours in the paper , only after you place your's?
Happens in advertising and Ebay daily
. It's called competion. Business. Free market. No one dictates to the
seller what he should sell for. Or that he has to dislose his price.
Try selling stuff for a living and see how far you get by not being aware of
the tactics used against you, the little guy.
Ever see a add in the paper"call for price?"
On the internet-"ask for quote?"
This is because competion on some markets is tight-to give your price out to
everyone, not just prospective buyers, is to risk being undersold.
If you are being undersold day after day by the guys diown the street-
your'e out of business.
Wal -mart undersells people and gets them off the street.
Several times on this list I have offered items for sale. Then I get a reply
that another listmember cinched the sale instead-,just because he knew my
price was five dollars bove his price, which he did not have to announce to
anyone he was buying ,Joes's product sold because Robert's product cost
more.
Joe did'nt have to tell anyone what he sold his for- and I did the free
advertising for him. Maybe Joe did'nt have any idea of what to sell his for
to you who lives next door to Joe.
Maybe Joe would have sold his too you for a hundred dollars less if I hadn't
been forced to advertise my price.
What kind of wars could we have if we make rules for the sellers but not the
buyers?
I have already had a listmember buy from me (on Ebay) , and have it for sale
on the Vanagon list the same day he won it , advertising it on the Vanagon
list for $38.00
more.How will this build bridges of friendship in the Vanagon and Eurovan
community?
We will be at each others throats.
Car dealerships will burn! (not by anarchists, but by rival dealers if they
are fored to give the price in full in advance.
If you want to bring the Vanagon list to chaos-simply applaud and establish
"rules" like this..
