Subject: sticky speedometer...
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Hi Folks,

The speedometer on my 1987 Westy has been sticking as of late. It seems to be related to temperature too. It's been getting in to the 30's and 40's at night, and when I go for a drive in the morning, it just sits on 0 mph. Usually, a light tap on the top of the dash cover causes it to bounce up to what ever speed I am at. Once in a rare while, I have to tap it a bit harder than usual. It's just started to occur in the colder months, probably starting in late October.

There's not noise or sound related to it, it just needs a tap.

Before I take my cover off or dash apart, would anyone have a suggestion what I might have a closer look at, or do to help remedy this situation. It's not a huge deal (I don't drive fast) but one I would like to fix if I can. I don't own a Bentley, and wondered if it might be a loose cable, or if any moving parts need any kind of adjustment of lube.

Any suggestions would be helpful, Thanks, Neil
