Subject: Coolant hose tap
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1"

I saw a Vanagon with a For Sale sign on the windshield so I stopped and took a look. It was an '82 Diesel and the lady at the house was selling it for her brother who is in the Persian Gulf somewhere. She said it hadn't run in a long time - bad transmission. While looking in the engine compartment, I noticed that the coolant hose that came off the front of the block and went forward to the radiator was cut about six inches from the block and a brass T with a male garden hose connection was inserted inline. There was a brass cap on the hose connection. In the storage area under the back seat was a six foot piece of garden hose with female connections on both ends. This must be a way to either fill or flush the cooling system but I can't figure exactly how it would work. Any ideas?
