What does that mean " side axle resting on the wheel" ??? I can't envision an axle that is to long because the CV's have a pretty exact position on the ends of the axle, and the CV bolts pull those CV's and thus the axle into precisely the right position. It's a fair fit. Unless I'm missing something, you won't be able to get an axle that is to long to fit properly during the installation.
