Forgot to add, on my '85 (single wire type), the ECU seems to feed 0.5V into the O2 Sensor loop until it starts generating its own current signal. Then it cycles up and down based on the exhaust gas content. I only found this out by attaching a voltmeter to the spade connection with the O2 sensor still attached. I hope this is normal? My 1.9l with the Euro Digijet ECU runs leaner with the O2 sensor disconnected! I need to look at this some more. I do have the AFM leaned out 4 notches. It seems like the ECU fattens it back up.

It puts out a DC voltage from 0 to about 1VDC. Normal mixtures should read 0.5 to 0.7VDC. Bad sensor will show no volts and the ECU will run open loop, which ususally means rich. Higher voltage indicates rich mixture, low voltage is lean.

Check the archives. I'm sure there are a bunch of posts on this topic. I don't have my Bentley in front of me so can't tell you the voltages for sure. Basically, once the sensor is hot the voltage rises as the mixture gets richer. (I think)... Check the archives to be sure.
