Volks, I need to tap the list wisdom here... AT on my friend' Westy has bad differential or so said the shop that checked it. When driving there is noise coming from trans that increases in intencity with speed increase. Noise disappears when coasting. Anyone had similar experience? Solutuon? Fixes? My friend bought inexpensive replacement trans from VW wrecker and i just opened it up. There was bad looking fluid, more black than red. Lots of sludge in pan' bottom. Removed filter screen and more of sludge and some thin metal shavings and small size particles of unknown origin . This trans was down before as evidenced by shifter lever some "wise" mechanic welded to shaft. I am suspicious of this trans and would like to hear some comments from you guys. Have no trans experience at all other than draining and refilling. TIA, Leon 85 Subwagen Cruiseship
