When racing Inboard Hydroplanes and need to bench test the engines we just used a 55 gallon drum to receive water and the city water supply to provide the cool water. Since the Water Cooled engines have thermostats it looks to be a viable option ............. and my favorite "cheap". We seldom used more than 20 gallons on a one hour session with a 266 cid chevy engine.
