Who can tell what will bring you happiness? Some lottery winners are miserable, while some cancer victims revel with each new day; it is all perspective. Vanagon are fun, comfortable, slightly dorky, increasingly archaic, solid, HUGE, flexible, semi-efficient, fairly-low-maintenance, easy to clean, fairly safe, somewhat nimble, and one of the last vehicles VW made that had lots of human hands on it during assembly. The old beetles and busses were mostly hand assembled, and they have lots of human vibes in them, that's why the "feel good" as soon as you get in them. The new VW stuff is mostly machine assembled, very few vibes, and 'cold' when you get in. The Vanagon has some vibes in it. Anywho... the price is good. The maintenance sounds outstanding. If you like all the above-mentioned notions, buy it. Then buy some curtains for it, some 12volt chili-pepper Christmas lights, a decent bottle of wine, some fruit, some cheese, and turn the interior into a "Love-Shack" for an evening. Take your wife out for a little romance, and little van-rocking passion, and endear her to the van. ;-) She won't complain as much when it needs a $200 hose, or a $59 little clamp.
