This really should be on the Saabnet discussion but I can't resist asking the vanagon group. I am looking for advice on servicing a car that has been sitting for 2 years. This is a recently acquired new project in the form of an 88 Saab 900t. The PO parked it two years ago when the alternator went out. He replaced the alternator about 6 mo ago and tried to start it with no luck. So far my hit list includes: Drivetrain Changing all fluids (oil, tranny, transfer, flush radiator) Draining the gas tank and fuel lines r & r plugs, cap, rotor (clean where possible) r & r plugs and test plug wires add oil to top of cylinder and turn over engine by hand (damage may already done here) r & r fuel filter Chassis remove and repack wheel bearings. Inspect and clean brake assemblies I am sure I have overlooked some stuff. Any suggestions would be welcome. |
