Assuming you have the square filter ahead of the pump, replace it
again...if it's getting clogged up with junk from the tank it will make the
pump whine (cavitation noise, the pump is pulling a vacuum).


If you've clogged a filter in a short time, obviously there's a
contamination problem upstream of that.
