A good habit to get into, is to get the old part, or parts, returned to you
before you pay for the service.

I had an ECU replaced in a Golf, and they gave me the old one as "proof"
that mine was defective, and that they had actually replaced it.

At the time I was not so confident to open such a black box up, so I tossed
it in a spare parts box in my workshop... but just last week I did open it,
and located a fried circuit path which appears to have just rusted
through... would be cool to try to fix it and see if it works (the new one
cost about as much as the car did!!!)

 It happens all the time, they sell you new parts and then put
