Subject: No cold start and the shaft from the shop (long)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

My Boston bob 1.9l engine is having some starting issues. No cold start and hard warm start. Once running it works real fine. I have swapped out the temp 2 sensor, ECU, AFM, Ignition control module. I ran the pin test on the ECU harness, checked timing, tightened all clamps for vacuum leaks and, checked the throttle positioning switches.

Still it is a bear to get going when temps are in the 40's. So in desperation Tuesday I dropped it off at the VW shop that sees a lot of vanagons. Yesterday afternoon he calls and says they THINK it's fixed but would like to keep it overnight. He said that they made some adjustments and want to be sure it started in the AM. Earlier this afternoon he calls and says that my ECU, O2 sensor and temp2 are dead and thus far the bill is 300. Still he would like to keep it overnight to be sure.

I am real sure that my ECU and temp 2 are not dead and it's not likely the o2 sensor is bad though it's 8 months old. How would you guys handle this? Keep in mind that I am 26 and probably appear to them as a large sucker to be taken advantage of.

Thanks in advance for your input and insights, Jim Gregory
