Subject: Rear, Side, Front, Defroster Wires... Can These Be Purchased?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi all,

I had a crazy idea the other day as I scraped the ice off of all the windows on my Golf.

Does anyone sell the necessary materials to make your own window defrost wire grids??

I have noticed on many newer car models that they have gotten creative in their wire patterns, and have even put a few squiggly ones right beneath where the wiper sits on the rear window! This seems practical.

I then thought wouldn't if be cool to have this squiggly wire under my FRONT Windshield wipers... so that they do not freeze down to the glass and stick there and have the rubber tear when I try to turn them on, or pry them up.

Or a few rows of wires on side windows to just get a nice strip of ice melted so that you can at least start to scrape.

Anyone seen anything like this for sale out there?? Can I build this type of thing from scratch with some uninsulated wire and a resistor or two??

Any help, ideas, criticism etc. will be appreciated!

RSF
