Subject:      doing a compression check

I was planning on doing a compression check.   I
thought I might pull the lead to the fuel pump and run
the van to remove the gas under pressure in the lines.
Will this cause any problems?   I will pull all the
plugs afterwards and pull the coil wire when doing the
compression check.   Can I put oil in the cylinders to
do the ring check? or will this foul up my cat?
