Sorry to take up band width with this but I am stuck!!

I have a new Visioneer OneTouch 8700 USB scanner. I also have a Compaq computer, model 5304 with USB Controller SIS 7001. I absolutely cannot get the computer to recognize the scanner after all the software is loaded. Windows (ME) recognized the hardware, set up the Scanner software, but after that nothing. When the computer boots the Scanner software pops up a window that says "Finding Scanner" runs a few minutes, then changes and says Scanner not connected. Device manager says the USB ports are operating properly, but there is no indication of the scanner anywhere. I have been on all over on the 'Net and have not found a solution. And I have learned that there is a widespread problem generally with this USB controller recognition business.

USB ports are definitely problematic, so if anybody on the list can help, it would be majorly appreciated.

Please respond via P-mail

My Thanks,

John Rodgers 88 GL Driver
